The NHS Grampian musculoskeletal physiotherapy service provides advice, assessment and treatment for those with musculoskeletal conditions. Musculoskeletal conditions are problems which affect your joints, muscles, bones and spine. Our team of specialist physiotherapists will help you manage these conditions through treatments such as exercise. We operate clinics throughout Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray. Please click below for information on how to access physiotherapy, where our clinics are located and further specialist services that we operate.

To access our service you can either self refer or be referred from a number of sources.
Self referral
- Anyone who is registered with a GP in NHS Grampian, can directly refer themselves for physiotherapy via a form which is available here.
Via your First Contact Physiotherapist
- These are physiotherapists who work directly in some GP practices and will see patients with musculoskeletal conditions instead of a GP. This service is currently rolling out in Grampian. Please enquire at your local surgery to see if it is available in your area.
Via your GP
- Your GP can refer you into our service if they feel you would benefit from physiotherapy treatment.
If you work for NHS Grampian, and would like to access physiotherapy, please contact the self referral helpline on 01224 655698.
If you are unable to attend an out-patient clinic due to medical reasons, please ask your GP to refer you to our colleagues in the Domiciliary team in your local area. In Aberdeen City you can self refer for this service via the Single Access Point, the telephone number is 01224 558324. For patients in Aberdeenshire please contact your GP.
If you are looking to refer a child under the age of 16 years old, please complete and return this form to the address provided for Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital Children’s Physiotherapy Request for Assistance Form
